Fortescue Metals Group is developing the Western Hub in the Pilbara region, which includes significant amounts of high iron content bedded iron ore and is home to Fortescue’s newest mine, Eliwana. Located 140km to the west of Solomon, the Eliwana mine was commissioned in December 2020, and includes 143km of rail to connect the new mining hub to existing rail infrastructure. GMRail was engaged to manage the construction and delivery of the new railway line.
